About the Program
Take your climbing further with our two-day lead climbing course set among Santa Barbara’s iconic sandstone cliffs. Whether you’ve been top-roping and are ready to step into the sharp end, or you’re making the transition from gym to outdoor climbing, this program gives you the skills and confidence to lead safely.
What You’ll Learn
This course is designed to cover the full spectrum of sport lead fundamentals in a real outdoor setting. With AMGA-certified guides providing hands-on coaching, you’ll build both technical ability and confidence. Each day runs 4–6 hours, giving plenty of time for learning and climbing.
You’ll cover:
Clipping technique and rope management
Falling and catching safely
Dynamic lead belaying and managing slack
Evaluating bolt quality and risk awareness
Cleaning anchors and lowering safely
Mental strategies to build a strong lead head
Introductory self-rescue techniques
By the end, you’ll have the tools to lead single-pitch sport climbs independently and with confidence.
